About Us !

Retired Racers Inc. is a non-profit rescue ranch dedicated to finding responsible, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. These racers no longer qualify at the track because of poor performance, and are rescued before they can be put to death. These beautiful Greyhounds are between two and five years old. Before adoption, they are spayed/ neutered, given a complete physical examination, and all the necessary shots are brought up to date. They also receive basic training including housebreaking at our adoption ranch in Acton California, just forty miles north of Los Angeles, near Palmdale. They are healthy, happy and ready to race into your heart.

Greyhound males stand between 26 and 30 inches at the shoulders and weigh between 65 and 85 pounds. Females stand between 23 and 26 inches at the shoulders and weigh between 50 and 60 pounds. Colors include black, white, several shades of brindle, fawn blue, red, or a combination of colors.

If you have a small yard, give your greyhound a nice long walk at least three times a week. Not only is the exercise good for both of you, but it will aid in the bonding process, giving your new friend the human companionship that he thrives for.

One last thing. We ask that you not trust everything that you read on the internet, not that some of these people mean any harm, but some are very misinformed. If you have any questions ask your Vet if he or she is familiar with the Greyhound breed and direct any questions you may have to him or her. Be sure that the Vet has a complete knowledge of greyhounds, if not find one that does. Please help make this a run into your hearts not a race for their lives.
